Timothy McGee
Timothy "Tim" McGee ( or ) is a fictional character from the CBS television series ''NCIS''. He is portrayed by Sean Murray. Timothy McGee is a special agent investigating crime in this police procedural show; his specialty is cybersecurity and computer crime. However, he is regularly called on by Leroy Jethro Gibbs to do on-site forensics as well - he is an exceptional tracker - as well as to aid in performing arrests; he's competent with a bulletproof vest and his sidearm as well. Within the show's fiction, he is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and MIT and the most accomplished computer technician in the cast, regularly working with Abby Sciuto on computer forensics and with his mentor Tony DiNozzo on physical forensics. ==Background==
McGee was born in Bethesda, Maryland〔Season 7, Episode 3 "The Inside Man"〕 on September 13, 1978 to an Irish American family. He spent his childhood in Alameda, California, as his father was a naval officer stationed there.〔Season 6, Episode 19 "Hide and Seek"〕 His parents bought him his first car the day he turned sixteen – a 1984 Camaro Z28 5-speed. However, he crashed into a bus while trying to figure out how to use the windshield wipers. He got a student pass the day he got out of traction.〔Season 2, Episode 21 "Hometown Hero"〕 He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a Master of Science degree in computer forensics from MIT. His college GPA was 3.9, he failed a fencing class in his Sophomore year.〔〔 He worked for a time at the NCIS field office in Norfolk, Virginia before being transferred to the headquarters in the Washington Navy Yard which was made permanent at the end of the episode "See No Evil".
His younger sister, Sarah McGee (played by Troian Bellisario), attends Waverly College and intends to be a writer like her older brother.
